They are
several applications for electrostatic charging or discharging in the food
industry. As an
example, we would like to refer to individually wrapped cheese slices. The
pilled up slices can shift during transportation and cause problems in the
packaging process.
Most
transport problems can be solved by blocking (charging) with inductor electrodes.
A further
example is the
packaging of chocolate bars. Often a high electrostatic charge is developed
by the multi-layering of a filling such as wafers or biscuit.
Strategic
static discharge is imperative in order that the packaging process is not
slowed down.
